The Novar Arms is ideally located for access to some of the best fishing that Ross-shire has to offer. Day tickets are available locally through Dingwall & District Angling Club for Salmon & Sea Trout fishing on the river Conon estuary, through Loch Achonachie Angling club for Brown Trout fishing on several Lochs as well as Salmon Fishing on the Upper Conon and Upper Blackwater and Through Alness Angling Club for Salmon Fishing on their beats on the River Alness. There is also a well managed Rainbow Trout Fishery nearby at Stoneyfield Lochs near Invergordon.

In addition to the fishing above, we work closely with TroutQuest a small local business specialising in fly fishing holidays, instruction and guiding, and can put together a full fishing package to meet your needs.

Salmon Fishing
TroutQuest has access to prime salmon & sea trout fishing on the private beats of the River Alness, and can offer our hotel guests weekly or day permits subject to availability.

Guided Fly Fishing Excursions
TroutQuest can provide local ½ day and whole day guided excursions to fish for salmon on the River Alness or brown trout on one of the many beautiful lochs in the area. Salmon fishing excursions can be combined with instruction if desired.

Learn to Fly Fish for Trout
TroutQuest can also offer professionally qualified fly fishing instruction including a ½ day 'Introduction to Fly Fishing' for hotel guests on a private lochan in Evanton or at the nearby Stoneyfield Lochs trout fishery.

If you havent fly fished before and would like to learn, why not join us here at the Novar Arms Hotel for one of TroutQuest's residential 'Learn to Fly Fish' weekend courses held this spring and early summer. The basic course is two days in duration starting on a Friday evening and finishing on Sunday afternoon, but for those with more time to spare and a desire to widen their experience, an optional extension of an additional day or two will provide a foundation in river fishing and boat fishing for wild brown trout.
